As the title suggests, I hope that the annual meetings of periodontal associations held across the world give a wonderful chance for all of us to look forward to the future of periodontology and our periodontal associations during the next half-century. We have made enormous progress in better understanding periodontal and related dental disorders and generating more effective therapies during the last half-century. Considerable progress has been made in all areas, including diagnostic imaging, the genetics perspective of periodontal diseases, regenerative periodontal surgery, and the link between periodontitis and oral cancer, to name a few, and the understanding of diseases has likewise made a great leap forward. Although thousands of periodontologists around the world use clinical applications of their dental science every day, the principles from which clinical periodontology is derived have far-reaching implications for modern and future science that go unnoticed and unutilized. Given this circumstance, our society or institution must provide good education at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels and also excellent training programs should be available for young periodontists preparing to become excellent periodontists.

We offer future techniques in numerous areas of Periodontology that involve cutting-edge research and study, such as depth reduction examination, clinical attachment level gain, and radiographic bone loss, that have the potential to advance. Such an understanding of periodontal regenerative therapy, genetic periodontology, traditional resective periodontal surgery, implantology, and regenerative periodontal surgery will open new avenues for therapeutic approaches to manipulation in modern periodontology.
